红鼻子驯鹿鲁道夫[1] （Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer），是传说中圣诞老人拉雪橇其中一只虚构的驯鹿。
简介
圣诞节的圣诞元素越来越多了---除了最典型的圣诞树和圣诞老人之外，还有一个出场率越来越高的角色：红鼻子驯鹿鲁道夫（Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer）。
红鼻子驯鹿鲁道夫，它有一个发光的红鼻子，常被称为“圣诞老人的第九只驯鹿”，是在平安夜(圣诞节前夜)为圣诞老人拉雪橇的带头驯鹿，它鼻子发出的亮光能够在风雪中照亮全队所走的路途。
驯鹿鲁道夫的名字，最初在1939年由罗伯特．梅Robert L. May为百货公司Montgomery Ward编写的童话故事:填色册上出现。[2][3][4]
故事说，小鲁道夫因为长了一只发光的红色鼻子而遭到其他驯鹿的嘲笑，也没鹿和他一起玩。但有一年圣诞前夜，起了大雾，圣诞老人看到了鲁道夫的红鼻子，于是请他作为驯鹿领队照亮道路，从此得到了其他驯鹿的爱戴。
著名的圣诞歌红鼻子驯鹿鲁道夫就是取材自驯鹿鲁道夫的故事，在1949年推出。[5]
鲁道夫的性别未知，因为根据驯鹿的资料，驯鹿是一种无论雌雄都有角的动物，并且雄性驯鹿的角通常在11月份左右就脱落，所以在12月份也就是圣诞节的时候，能够为圣诞老人完成工作又拥有角的驯鹿更可能是一只雌鹿。
传说故事
鲁道夫因为它那罕见的发光红鼻子而受到其他驯鹿的嘲笑和排挤。
在某个平安夜，圣诞老人派送礼物时遇上大雾，圣诞老人注意到鲁道夫的发光红鼻子可以帮忙，请求鲁道夫带头拉雪橇。
鲁道夫答应了，帮助圣诞老人在那个晚上完成任务，其他驯鹿从此对它改观，大家都喜爱它。
